How can we tell a well-known story, interpret it differently, and make it enjoyable still when everyone knows all about it? Sunrise symbolizes a new day to emerge, but it is much more to my present story. It is a new beginning, an innovative start, and an exciting opportunity. You can step into a warm, hugging calmness and make your mind relax, or uplift your spirit with exhilarating hope and feed your soul with optimism and confidence. You can feel a physical and emotional balance, comfort, and security to make an essential next step, or you can sense a passion for exposing a new idea, learning a new truth, and touching a new heart with love and sincerity.
With this collection, the artist explored features of a new beginning associated with natural images and colors, translating them into a physical form that speaks directly to the human soul, responding emotionally. When our mind cannot associate the image with any familiar objects, it goes through shock at first. Forced to communicate with the soul to define what it sees, it picks up the challenge to translate the soul’s emotions and applies experiences from the past to interpret them. Irina likes to work with a nonrepresentational form of abstraction to challenge the mind, seek the emotional response, and influence her viewers with pure inspiration. Her artistic efforts incorporate psychological, philosophical, lyrical, and aesthetical components. She works with oil paint and associates her style for the project with abstract, symbolism, and aesthetic emotionalism.
The direct symbol of a new beginning is the Sunrise, which never presents itself the same. Analyzed characteristics of a new beginning combined with experience and dynamics of nature, and the psychology of colors, Irina came up with the following themes: A New Beginning, Exhilarated Hope, Optimism and Confidence, Excitement, Passion, and Affection.
The effect of the colors is the starting point to communicate with the souls to encourage the sensations. The eyes strongly attracted to the color spectrum, charmed with a warm and welcoming palette, influences the soul to express excitement. The more sensitive the soul, the deeper emotions it will produce. The unity of soul and mind creates a phenomenal reaction from the viewers that determines the artwork’s quality and lifetime.
By working with the elements of visual expression (line, shape, and color), the artist built her compositions for the paintings as a dynamic placement of these elements to express emotions, characterizing each theme. For instance, a picture of a tree branch (resembles a scalene triangle), the sun in the background (a yellow circle), and other surrounded elements (lines, curves, and angles) translated into characteristics reflected in a Passion. Irina used colors like scarlet, safety orange, and candy apple red to express strong emotions defining a passion: excitement, desire, intense, and almost an obsession or pain. The duality of red color plays well with the same color’s psychology (which may be interpreted differently among cultures) and the meaning behind the passion.
Irina admires Wassily Kandinsky’s (1866-1944) love for color; color is a power that directly influences the soul… the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another, to cause vibrations in the soul (W. Kandinsky). Irina can relate to Kandinsky’s search for spiritual reality in art. In connection to a contemporary dialog of artistic ideas, her works bond the concept of a new beginning and reality translated into form and expressed by the visual language of abstraction and color.
This artwork was created based on the photograph A’Jasia Summerville for the art show and exhibited at AT THE SPOT STUDIOGALLERY in April 2017. It is structured to mimic the colors and patterns of Sunrise in nature. It draws viewers with the vibrancy of colors, a sense of purpose, and inspiration.

“From my point of realistic view, I do not know much of abstract, but I feel so energized about your body artwork. Your creativity is vibrant with imaginary forms of geometric aspects: your colors very vivid with powerful and intense expression of the love of art. Your interpretation of the photo of Sunrise with your abstract of your New Beginning is astonished. The rest of the paintings speak for themselves. I do not paint abstract, but I love what I see here.” –Ray (Erasmo) Signore, Realist Artist/ Painter/ Sculptor.
“The artist’s imagination is an empire that can live by everything; it can be born by a small thing and can live with nothing. The artist is able, thanks to his intelligence and his sense of perception, to transform a simple detail of nature into new knowledge, to give life a new hope; Irina, it is with your magic wand, you did it well, thanks to these beautiful compositions of contrasting colors that release a breath of optimism, which excite us and give us want to seek the passion for loving even more and better.” – Elloumi Mourad, International Artist.
